The cult favorite dance workout, Zumba, has introduced a new program called “STRONG by Zumba.” It is described as a high intensity boot camp class with a musical twist. Instead of grooving to the music as you normally would in Zumba, the “STRONG By Zumba” program focuses on syncing music to functional strengthening moves. This means that in every class, the music and exercises work together to help give you a better, more effective workout. By incorporating “Synced Music Motivation,” the class is designed to motivate you– think of it as having the best workout playlist while hitting burpees– as it creates a way to change your thinking habits to power you through a high intensity workout. Keep in mind, this is NOT traditional Zumba. There are burpees, squat jumps, lunges, high knee shuffles and more! These moves are synchronized with beats, reggae, Latin, and other types of music that will get you going and moving, but do not expect to have a salsa dance party.
Some things to note about the new STRONG by Zumba:
• Ranging from medium to high intensity, once you give it your all, the class will increase your heart rate into the fat burning zone.
• Compared to Zumba, the footwork is easy to follow, so it is not as hard to keep up. You may find the moves themselves, however, to be harder, more challenging to perform and require more energy!
• STRONG by Zumba is the first non-dance based class from the fitness brand. No need to worry about shimmying or shaking –if you want to twerk it out, you can do a Zumba class three times a week!
• The newest of all Zumba classes revolves around high-intensity interval training, but still focuses on moving to the beat. Think of it as boot camp choreography…a bass that puts you in a squatting trance. And with the new lighting in the group room, the mood is instantly elevated! Definitely give it a try!
